Vermont politics dominate 1966 year in review

In 1966 Vermont politics dominated headlines with Gov. Philip H. Hoff winning a third term and fending off challenger Richard A. Snelling. The legislature, reapportioned, opened a 10 week session with Republicans controlling both chambers. Two lawyers, Rep. Donald Milne and Frederick Fayette, were convicted in separate cases. A power debate with Labrador hydro capacity stalled, while University of Vermont president Shannon McCune resigned amid turmoil. Highway deaths and a fatal family fire marked a deadly end to the year.
