Thieves Strike Twice in Bennington

Thieves struck twice in Bennington last night stealing considerable money from a Moose Club safe on East Main Street and breaking into the Agway Corporation on Ben Mont Avenue. Entrance to the Moose Club was gained through a window and a bar area was damaged. Cash losses from the secretary’s office at the Moose Club were estimated over $1,000. The Agway break yielded no money though a back window was broken, contents of the office were scattered, and trucks in the lot were opened. Virginia Perrotta, Agway manager, said an inventory is underway to determine if equipment was taken. The break was discovered around 7 a.m. by a company employee.
