Union School Bond Vote Set For February Restricted by 1963 Residency Rule
Mt. Anthony Union School District voters eligible to cast ballots in the February 2 bond issue are those whose district residence was established before April 1, 1963 and who met state voter requirements. The board received a memo from counsel Atty. Eugene V. Clark, concurred by Atty. John P. Morrissey, outlining that only voters on town checklists used for Bennington Shaftsbury Woodford and Pownal town meetings will qualify. Moves after April 1, 1963 are ineligible, a rule board members deem unfair but must follow to avoid potential legal challenge. Morrissey noted the clerk’s role per the memorandum.
