Growth and zoning dominate 1962 Bennington County round up
A year of growth and problems across Bennington County saw towns debating a regional Union High School District 14 bond, crafting zoning plans, and tackling rapid growth around Pownal and Dorset. Arlington faced a major FBI case and school funding battles, Manchester pursued zoning and firehouse decisions, and Shaftsbury and Readsboro elections shaped local power.

1962 in Hoosick Falls Progress and Tragedy United
Hoosick Falls marked 1962 with civic progress and serious events. The year saw the grand opening of the $2,440,000 Hoosick Falls Central School consolidating multiple towns into a 100 square mile district, plus urban renewal plans and a new sewage disposal plant. Tragedy struck with a highway crash in Duanesburg killing a Shapiro family member and relatives. a Cambridge jet crash and a Berlin propane explosion elicited community aid. Employment fluctuated as 250 Hoosick Falls Underwear Co workers were laid off then rehired after the plant sale. New local offices changed hands, and notable visits and exchanges featured Miss Susan Kavage in Sweden and Miss Rita Ghibaudo from Turin.
