Western man spent cash earlier than historians thought
Tufts University associate professor Dr. Miriam Balmuth argues that silver ingots found in northern Syria date to 730 B.C., years before the commonly accepted 635 B.C. date from Sardis. Her comparison of Aramaic inscriptions and material tests places these ingots as early coins from the region, a finding presented in New York City and at the Archaeological Institute of America convention.
