Unusual ornaments crafted from ordinary tin cans decorate the Christmas tree at the Bennington Museum. Richard Carter Barret the museum curator notes strong public praise for the Plain Dirt Gardeners who designed and cut the pieces. The group included many named volunteers and the process caused some minor injuries.
Clarence Williamson a Santa helper was ticketed by police for loading debris from a chute onto a truck without wetting it. The incident occurred in Times Square while Williamson and crew from the Wrecking Corp. of America worked on the Times Tower. A company spokesman blamed frozen water pipes for the mess.
