Vermont Rental Housing Substandard Rate Stated
A federal housing official says one in five Vermont rented dwellings is substandard, among the worst rates in the nation. Arthur Schecter of New York, assistant director for programs at the Public Housing Administration, told a Vermont conference on aging that aging residents need more housing programs. Lyman Hunt urged public understanding of low rent housing for the elderly. Representatives from Burlington and Brattleboro housing programs spoke as Gov. Keyser greeted about 35 attendees from 13 communities.
