Jamaica Brattleboro hearing on Miri Construction Co. plan for 250 condominiums along the West River stretched over four hours Friday night and seven more hours Saturday. The session resumes Wednesday at 7 p.m. and could extend all day Thursday.

UVM and Vermont Hospitals Share Kellogg Grant
The University of Vermont joins a W K Kellogg Foundation grant of 694078 to support 12 Vermont and northern New England hospitals. The three year program funds a medical engineering service and education for hospitals in Maine New Hampshire and Vermont. Vermont receives 211000 for a continuing effort to train and deploy technical staff to maintain and safely use increasingly complex medical equipment. The project involves UVM personnel Richard Becker James Bernard and Daniel Raemer and follows planning with the Vermont Hospital Association.

Comet Kohoutek Lights Vermont TV Night Sky
Vermonters will see Comet Kohoutek brightening the sky from mid December to late January. A New Year’s Day public TV special from Goddard Space Flight Center will air January 1 at 9 30 p.m. on Vermont ETV, with repeats January 11 at 1 30 p.m. The program uses animation and space footage to explain comets and show where to look for Kohoutek.

Hoosac students stage 82nd Boars Head Yule Log pageant
Hoosick N Y Hoosac School presented its 82nd Boars Head and Yule Log Celebration over two nights with nearly 100 students in period costume. The production featured the lighting of the yule candle, a Boar’s Head procession, the Jester’s satire, the Mummers Play, and traditional carols, with the Bennington Chamber Players and student soloists providing music and vocal performances.
