Cape Cod Ocean Sanctuary Proposed by Panel
The Special Commission on Marine Boundaries and Resources proposed a three mile sanctuary around Cape Cod extending from the low water mark. It would ban man made changes and dumping within the waters, with debate on extending to 30 miles and including Nantucket Sound and Cape Cod Bay. Supporters cite protection of sea and seashore, while critics fear offshore drilling and broader restrictions.
