Vermont auditor warns salaries must rise to stay competitive
Montpelier UPI Vermont auditor Jay Gordon warned that state government salaries must rise to remain competitive with industry. He noted starting pay for university degree holders in his office is under 6000 while public accounting offers up to 7500. The audit office can recruit at 8000 to 8500, but audits about 200 per year with current staff, a workload Gordon calls nearly impossible.
