FBI burglary probe picks new task force leaders
Barnet Skolnik a Maryland federal prosecutor named by Attorney General Griffin Bell as co leader of a new legal team probing FBI burglaries has a record of targeting political figures rather than anti war activists and drug users. Skolnik led the probe that resulted in Spiro Agnew’s 1973 no contest plea and later prosecuted Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel on corruption charges. He and Paul Boucher will head eight other prosecutors in a drive to investigate past FBI break ins wiretaps and mail openings after the initial five member team quit in protest.
