Arlington Zoning Board Grants Permits in Contested Snow Case
Arlington Zoning Board reluctantly approves a D permit for Floyd Snow to complete a house on East Road, despite noncompliance with dimension and get-back rules. The decision hinges on a 30 day auto grant loophole after a late application, as Snow’s foundation and growing structure faced prior court orders and a shifting permit history. Board members condemn the maneuver, warn of further action, and stress the need for public awareness of zoning enforcement.

Dorset ZBA approves Schonbergs restaurant in former Schoolhouse Woolens
Dorset ZBA granted a variance to Nancy and Leonard Schonberg to convert the Route 7 North Dorset building into a restaurant and bar serving about 30 patrons with parking for 11. The board also approved George Maxwell’s pond project with a setback variance. A separate request by Charles O’Neil to build on land offered by the state in Emerald Lake State Park was deferred as zoning questions linger about state land status and re zoning.
