Polio outbreak strikes Daycroft School in Connecticut
At Daycroft School in Greenwich Connecticut nine boys and two girls aged seven to eighteen contracted polio in October. Most unvaccinated, upper division students faced paralysis but no respiratory failure. Health officials traced likely spread to a juice dispenser with five football players affected and urged three oral vaccine doses for students and staff. Christian Scientists at the school oppose immunization though law requires it in certain cases.
