At 8 05 a m Thursday morning a collision occurred at the corner of Main and Pleasant Streets. Robert Daeley of 56 Pond Street Ludlow was southbound on Main and John Billert driving a Ruskins Taxi car at 446 Main Street was eastbound when the crash happened. Moderate damage reported.
A 400-pound sea turtle refused to leave a crowded street area in Miami Beach. Police backed by a turtle consultant attempted to guide her to safety, but she balked and was dragged several hundred feet back to the water where she swam away toward an unincorporated area.
Gov elect Hoff signals commitment to boosting state aid to education with a possible graduated program amid debate over the Simpson formula reform. Opponents fear cuts to towns like Bennington, while supporters expect a significant increase funded by new tax sources or phased implementation.

He questions how a Chicago firm can complete in weeks what the Vermont joint highway investigation failed to do in a year. Senator James Oakes of Brattleboro, committee chair, welcomed the findings.
Benhi sophomores stage a dance Saturday 8 to 11 p.m. in the Benhi auditorium with Diane Whitney as dance chairman. Preparations, ticket and poster, refreshments, and clean-up committees list several students. disc jockeys include Rick Wright. Chaperones are Mr and Mrs Robert Houle and Robert Howe. Attendees must show ID and boys wear ties.
