Conversion of creamery given Act 250 permit
Manchester Vermont Siegried Maier received a land use permit from the Bennington District Environmental Commission to convert the old Lincoln Avenue creamery into a small electronics laboratory. A front one story addition will house offices, with a total project cost of 38000 dollars. Maier, who operates a New Jersey plant, plans to move production to Manchester, employing up to 15 people to manufacture specialized electron tubes for flame scanning, combustion control, missile guidance, and glass to metal seals, about 20 percent defense related. He expects renovation in two to three weeks and production in two months, with winter office construction to be decided soon.

Pownal Vermont the school board met Tuesday amid news of state aid totaling 174365 for the operating budget. A career education workshop will be held Dec 11 at Monument Elementary with kindergarten through third sent home early and lunch served. A new school nurse Suzette Despres starts Jan 6.
