Church council meeting and Christmas events in Wilmington

The Church Council of the Congregational Church in Wilmington will meet at the Wilmington Inn Thursday at 8 p.m. Those seeking to join the church through the January 6 communion may confer with Rev. Henry Peck. Universal Bible Sunday is observed next week and Advent readings are on the vestibule. The Mothers Club held its annual Christmas supper at Hayloft Lodge with about 25 members and spouses attending, gifts exchanged, and a decorated tree. Next meeting is Feb 4. January meeting canceled. A daughter, Lori Beverly, was born Nov 30 to Orval and Beverly May Ramey of Salem, Oregon, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie May of Wilmington.

Peru Girl Joins Ithaca College Freshman Class Record

Miss Jerilyn MacConnach of Peru Vermont is a member of Ithaca College's freshman class of 550 the largest in the college's 71 year history. The college has 1730 total enrollment and is expanding on a new 250 acre campus overlooking Cayuga Lake. MacConnach is enrolled in the school of health and physical education and is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Alfred J MacConnach.

Christmas Gift Box Supports Williamsville Home

The Pownall Sunday School of First Methodist Church sponsors an annual gift box for the Methodist Home for Children in Williamsville New York. Donations are welcome by Sunday with pickup available through Mrs James Quinn. The Women’s Fellowship plans a Christmas Bazaar on Saturday December 8 from 1 to 5 PM at the Pownal Center Firehouse with a workbee Friday at 7:30 PM to set up.

Mt. Laurel School Unusual Fund Raising Venture

Mt. Laurel School aims to support operations and a new building via a novel fundraiser. Two $3 movie tickets grant access to three films and run through November 1963. Martha Canfield Library Board Hosts Friends of the Library

Arlington Vermont library board meeting included a covered dish supper and festive decorations. The librarian reported November circulation at 1 904 with 540 at Fisher School. 22 books were accessorized and nine new borrowers registered. Gifts came from three donors and fund donations rose for the Rev George Brush memorial. The Friends outlined fundraisers and Christmas readings for December 16. Proceeds from Memories of Arlington go to the library. Plans were set for December 23 caroling at 4 p m by the Dr Kent Christmas tree on the green.

Mrs. William Gilbert chairs the Dorset and East Rupert Christmas program with Santa arriving Dec 18 at 7 30 p m at Dorset Elementary School. Vermont Farmers Take Views to National Farm Bureau

Vermont Farm Bureau resolutions will be sent to the American Farm Bureau Resolutions Committee in Atlanta. State president Keith Wallace will defend Vermont positions opposing dairy production controls, extending the feed grain program, deficit spending, higher education tax exemptions, and maple syrup tariff changes. Mrs. Muriel Follet of Ascutney will represent the region on the National women's committee. Delegates will review uniform recommendations before the Atlanta convention December 9 to 13.
