Soldiers' Home Gets Funds For 40-Bed Nursing Unit
The Vermont Soldiers' Home at Bennington receives almost 450000 from the Veterans Administration to cover phase two of its 40 bed nursing addition. Sen. Aiken and Sen. Prouty notified Brig. Gen. The 1.2 million project aims to replace wooden structures with steel and concrete housing for about 50 ambulatory veterans, with a Memorial Day 1970 dedication planned for the chapel and social hall.

Woman Killed In Pownal Collision On U S 7
Mrs. Mary Butler, in her 50s, was instantly killed when her car collided with a North Adams truck on U S 7 about 10 30 am. Norman Cote, 45, of Court Street North Adams, was injured and taken to Putnam Memorial Hospital with a broken leg and back injuries. The crash occurred on a snowy day near Quadland's with both vehicles tumbling down a 50 foot embankment. Vermont State Police investigated. Pownal Rescue Squad assisted with Bennington Rescue Squad.
