Eugene P. Smith, 46, formerly Whitehall NY junior and senior high principal, accepted Mt Anthony Union board’s offer to lead Mt Anthony High School. He will commute 50 miles from Bennington, Vermont, and replaces Clarence Pelkie who left July 30. Smith has broad curriculum background, current salary reduction, and strong space and program growth experience. He holds master degrees in education and science and a bachelor’s in science. Smith is relocating from Whitehall to assume duties with three children and a wife teaching in New York.
