Vermont Guard Unit Sent to Vietnam

The 131st Engineer Company of the Vermont National Guard, activated in the nationwide reserve callup, will be shipped to Vietnam after a 20 day leave ends September 3. Capt. John E. Andrews said all soldiers must report back for final processing and immediate deployment. Reginald Cram would not confirm orders. The unit trained at Fort Belvoir, and equipment was shipped from Baltimore last month.

Vein of Gold Found At Brodie Ski Area

Workmen blasting a ledge at Brodie Mt ski area uncovered a mineral vein that Brodie general manager James Kelly suspects might be gold. A sample was sent to the University of Rhode Island for examination with results due next week. Freeman Foote of Williams College called gold finding in the area improbable but not impossible. The hole, for a new chair lift tower, extends about 20 feet into solid rock.
