Village officials report vandalism around the Mechanic Street sand shed damaging the wind shield and headlights of the new village truck. Trustees’ Chairman Fred Welling says mischief by children causes costly repairs, with parents liable for future damage.
The Crescent Manor Nursing Home, a $213000 project with nine months of construction, opened this week in Bennington. David J. Alexander and wife Marie will own and operate the facility on an eight acre site atop Bruse Hill, featuring 20 semi private and 10 private rooms, central dining recreation room, 24 hour nursing supervision, fire sprinklers, and modern amenities with views of Mt Anthony and the Green Mountains. The project was funded by the National Commercial Bank and Trust Co and FHA, with Gerald E. Morrissey Construction Co. as general contractor and multiple local suppliers and firms providing furnishings and services.
