Americans Find Paris Food Prices Startling High
Paris visitors Mrs. Edward Casazza from Poughkeepsie New York and Mrs. William Stieff of Chevy Chase Maryland report higher prices in Paris. They note butter at 92 francs per half pound, top beef at 4 290 pounds, tomato paste 87 cents, laundry soap at 8 cents, and gasoline at 4.25 francs per gallon. Even with currency shifts many items cost more than in the United States.
