Final Northway section opens Thursday in Essex County
The Adirondack Northway s final 30 mile link between Underwood and Keeseville opens at 5 p m Thursday allowing toll free travel from Albany to the Canadian border. The 176 mile highway costs 208 million with 90 percent funded by the federal government. Construction began in 1957 on a six lane Northway from Albany to Saratoga Springs and a four lane stretch to the border.
