Gas Truck Crashes Into Rest Home Killing Three
An exploding heating gas tanker rammed the Hill Crest Haven Rest Home near Electra Texas injuring many residents. Three elderly patients died and 15 or more of the 38 bedridden residents suffered burns. Driver Dan Craighead jumped and suffered critical injuries.

Four Room Addition At Pownal School Cleared for Acceptance
The Pownal Elementary four room expansion, built by Gerald Morrissey Inc. and totaling 74879 dollars, passed a final inspection by state and local officials led by Supt. Leon Wagner. Architect Alfred Granger joined contractor Morrissey, Robert Spencer, and school board members David Adler and John Foster for a careful review. The new wing provides self contained classrooms with baths, a kitchen, health room and boiler room, merging with the 1954 building on a five acre site.
