New England Playwrights Guild seeks genius for revival
In Brattleboro a converted ivy covered church hosts the New England Playwrights Guild with seven original works by writers aged 20s to 70s. Professional actors from Boston volunteer or split $2 tickets as the group aims to revive legitimate theater and stage new voices. The best seven plays will tour Boston in January, as founder Robert Rees Evans contends for drama as literature and a positive vision. Evans and Roy Richardson have not obtained federal or state grants, relying on passion over prestige.
