An enthusiastic Up With People show at Mt Anthony Union High School drew about 400 Bennington residents. Despite a power failure mid performance and crowd split between a six hour rock concert and the show, the cast kept energy high as audiences joined in dances and songs from multiple cultures.

Three New Hampshire men were arrested in Bennington Friday afternoon after a two car rear end collision at Main and Washington streets at 2 45. Gordon C Ayotte 20 of West Swanzey NH and passengers Gary L Robinson 21 of West Swanzey and Daniel M Abrams 20 of Keene NH were charged with disorderly conduct. Ayotte submitted to a chemical test and all three were lodged at the state regional correctional facility in Rutland. Edward E Whiting 38 of Hudson NY was the other driver and was not injured. Both cars sustained moderate damage.
Burlington reports a grand opening of statewide McGovern offices to be held at 16 Bank St. Prominent Vermont Democrats including Thomas Salmon, Francis Cain, Gordon Paquette, and Robert Clark are listed as on hand for the ribbon cutting at 11:30 a.m. The office will also serve as the Chittenden County Democratic campaign hub.
Deputy Murtha said Gov Burgess requested a blood test after a West Brattleboro crash on Route 9. A doctor drew blood within an hour, the sample will be analyzed by the state lab with results due next week. Burgess, uninjured, was not charged with a vehicle offense.
