Grafton Lakes State Park to expand with new funding
In Grafton New York the state plans a 750000 expansion to Grafton Lakes State Park funded partly by federal matching money. The first phase has been crowded with about 600 cars on Sundays, straining 300 picnic tables. The park spans 1450 acres with four lakes, 150 camping sites, and is New York’s 128th state park. Superintendent Robert Perkins announced that after the 300th car, visitors will be told picnic areas are full. The park lies on Route 2 near Petersburg, five miles from Route 22, and benefits from good weather and vacation demand.
