14 District Plans Now Approved Board To Advise on Primaries
The Vermont Legislative Reapportionment Board has approved all 14 major districts and will advise cities and towns on October primaries. The St Albans plan, once rejected for vague subdistrict boundaries, gained approval after corrections by Emory Hebard and Bernard Leddy. An Aug 18 inquiry will examine Brookfield’s failed district switch, Chelsea and Washington voting against the move. The panel will meet with clerks in September to review new election laws as the House size drops from 246 to 150 and districts replace counties for vote counting. The District 8 plan, covering Hartford, Hartland, and Norwich, remains controversial.
