Teachers Stand Firm Refuse Contracts at Mt Anthony

Mt Anthony Union High School teachers rejected signing two year contracts by 5 p.m. deadline. They voted 535 to seek possible injunctions to block hiring replacements and to pursue sanctions from the Vermont Education Association and the National Education Association. Several teachers voiced resignations or intent to resign, and the group prepared for possible legal action to protect staffing and education.

Factfinder blasts board as unfair and unreasonable

Bennington Fire Department readies Battle Day celebration

After initial rejections at town meetings, the Bennington Fire Department pushed to fund a Battle Day weekend with a parade down Main Street. Activities include Kids Day contests at 2 PM Saturday at the high school field, a treasure hunt for younger children, a teen party at the Armory with the Louie Motherball Memorial Mud Band, and Sunday water polo and a noon parade forming at Park Street. Third class postage hike to go into effect soon
