Green Mountain Park spurs boom in Pownal Valley tourism
The Green Mountain Park racetrack boosted May to September income for Pownal Valley hotels and eateries, with motels full Thursday through Saturday during peak race periods. After July 31, business cooled but remains solid for fall racing, though weekly demand slackens. A new motel building boom expanded capacity to 51 units, with luxury features becoming standard. owners credit track-driven clientele for steady, though fluctuating, patronage.
