Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey told the Mid-Continent Farmers' Association in Columbia that the era of crop surpluses is nearly over. He urged expanded production, cited rising farm costs and productivity, and said farmers will share in the expanding economy with fair returns.
In heavy fighting over North Vietnam seven U S planes were shot down during 107 missions. Airmen were rescued from six wrecks as SAM missiles and ground fire were used near Hanoi.
