New York State Police to name first women troopers this week
Albany officials say the State Police will appoint women to join the 130 new recruits for the September class at the Police Academy. Kirwan notes women will train like men, may patrol regularly after completion, with same pay and equipment, though one height requirement is waived. The move marks the first women troopers in the state police since its 1917 founding.
