Trustees Act On Lot Lines In Bennington Village

Bennington Village trustees met Tuesday to mark village owned lines in the Adams Parking Lot off Pleasant Street behind the Masonic Temple. The move, based on a survey, aims to define village right of way on Main Street and reduce disputes among private owners. The board also eyed an auto repair nuisance on Gage Street raised by Lillian Sleeman. Trustee Joseph Pello argued for abatement, while Village Attorney Milton Pinsker called it a private nuisance. Pello compared the issue to the historic Ver mont Gas Co. torch controversy and noted housing code work is delayed while Town Counsel Norton Barber is away. a code committee meeting is planned for next week to accelerate action.
