State officials urge local subdivision rules, but warn enforcement needs more staff. Mrs. Howard resigns as chairman of water and sewer commission
Mrs. Clarence E. Howard announced she has stepped down as chairman of the Town Water and Sewer Commission effective August 1. Hamilton Shields was elected to replace her, while she continues as clerk. She said the panel should have a chairman with more technical knowledge and praised the commission as an active advisory group to the selectmen. The master water plan by Du Fresne and Henry, studying town water needs, is due in November. The Burdis plan guided the commission’s work and highlighted the Putnam Deed as an obstacle to an efficient system. The commission remains advisory to the selectmen with members from various town areas.
