Russia to speed housing with mass production drive
In a Spring meeting of the President's Business Advisory Council UPI reports Under secretary Howard W. Samuels urged corporate leaders to back city housing solutions. He compared Soviet mass production to U.S. output, noting Russia builds 3.25 million units yearly while the United States reaches 1.5 million. He argued prefabrication and standardized designs could lift U.S. housing, but warned archaic codes and zoning plus funding hurdles block progress, urging use of mass production tools to close the gap.
