Drive Starts Sunday Taped Homilies To Be Used In Bishop's Fund Appeal

The 1968 Bishop's Fund for Charities and Development in Vermont launches Sunday with advance gifts and a new giving standard. A taped seven minute homily by Bishop Robert F. Joyce will be played at all Masses, urging support for a new home for the aged and increased aid to the poor through parishes. Last year the fund drew 31,000 donors who contributed $320,994.96. Delegates to the Watchtower Convention, about 6,000, will gather August 15-18 in Essex Junction, up from an initial 3,000, with sessions at the Champlain Valley Exposition Fairgrounds replacing the Burlington arena.
