New Hampshire Congressman's 'Dirty Dozen' target denied
Two New Hampshire environmental groups deny backing the Washington based Dirty Dozen campaign to unseat Rep. James Cleveland. Spokesmen for the Society for the Protection of NH Forests and the Environmental Coalition say a Dirty Dozen staffer spoke with them but no endorsement occurred. Dennis Bass of the Dirty Dozen said a field organizer gathered support for the effort in July, naming NH groups involved. The society and coalition reiterate they do not endorse candidates and cannot take political positions. Cleveland's opponent Joseph Grandmaison says he is not involved, while noting interest in Cleveland's voting record on environmental issues.
