U S plan for shared seabed riches to be unveiled
Geneva reports say the United States will present a plan at the UN to share ocean wealth from the seabed. It calls for coastal states to cede rights beyond 200 meters while creating an international regime to regulate exploration, royalties, and aid to developing nations. The 42 nation committee on the seabed meets August 3 for four weeks.

UE Urges Gov Davis to Fight Vermont Unemployment

A second American diplomat escaped, while a third captive, Michael Jones, was bound and later freed. Police reported Mitrione’s chest wound was not immediately life threatening.
