Ground fights around Saigon increased with seven Viet Cong probes repelled and a Mekong Delta unit killing 120 Communists. Two U S Navy F 8 pilots briefed a three day dogfight over a MIG 21 amid uncertainty who downed the jet. Lt Norm McCoy of Birmingham and Lt George Hise of Des Moines led the attack, each claiming to hit the target.

32 Texans Injured In Gas Tank Blast
In Kennedale Texas a gasoline tank truck exploded while transferring fuel at a Red Ball station on U S highway 287. Thirty two people were injured including six in critical condition and KRLD television newsman Steve Pieringer who stood nearby. The blast hurled a 6000 gallon tank 30 feet into the air and destroyed a nearby trailer house while flames burned along the highway and singed nearby children.
