Major Reforms Face Baseball
In New York the Major League Baseball Players Association urged reforms to club owners, led by Marvin Miller. They seek a $12,000 minimum salary, a limited 10 percent salary cut, possible 162 game schedule changes, representation in national TV talks, higher meal and training allowances, and binding arbitration in disputes. They also propose a five year basis for negotiating a modified reserve clause and oppose threats.
