The state highway department shows rising March traffic on U S 7 in Shaftsbury Vermont 9 in Wilmington and Vermont 11 in Peru with increases of 10 6 2 and 16 5 percent respectively. The 12 month daily averages also rise across the routes. In New York Stratford upon Avon plans a seven month Shakespeare 400th birthday observance with an international conference and cultural events.

Vermont Railway Excursion On May 16 and 17
The Vermont Railway will run its first passenger excursion between Rutland and Bennington May 16 and 17 using the Bennington Burlington line. It will pass South Wallingford Emerald Lake Manchester North Bennington with photo stops, a Bennington lunch, and return to Rutland. Sunday trip heads to Burlington with Proctor Middlebury New Haven stops and a Marble Museum visit. Tickets $8.50 for one day and $15 for both, with children's half fare.

West Hoosick artist Richard Comins and his wife announced a June gallery opening in the Nelson Building at North and Pleasant Streets Bennington. The space will showcase sculpture graphic art and paintings by invited professional artists. Comins heads the Brittenhill School art department and is a New York State arts examiner.
