Ice storm cuts power and travels disrupt village life
A combined snow and ice storm with high winds felled trees along Vermont Route 11 last week, leaving homes without electricity for up to 13 hours and forcing many families to cook by fireplace. Residents from the S.B. Smart farm road to Bromley Mountain faced outages while children and families went away for school vacation. Local residents visited relatives in Mystic and New York City as others attended Red Sox games in Boston. Firemen held their annual meeting at the Community House electing Floyd Davis as Fire Chief and Thomas Dibble as Chairman, with changes in secretarial duties and plans to buy a second pump for the new firetruck.
