Missionary Olive Kingsbury to Speak on Vietnam Life
Miss Olive Kingsbury of Caven Dish, a missionary on furlough from Vietnam, will speak at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Missionary Alliance Church. She will show slides and wear Vietnamese costume. A Vermont native, she spent 15 years in Vietnam and witnessed the 1962 capture of three associates by the Viet Cong. She was there during the 1968 Tet offensive, when six missionaries were murdered and property damaged. Her talks will cover her escape from death and the growth of the Protestant Evangelical Church of Vietnam amid the country’s war.
