Molly Stark Elementary School resumes the ELF Project engaging 15 Vermont towns. VINS trains teachers monthly on topics from adopt a tree to pond life with field trips and in class work.
At 11 a.m. on Saturday March 12 the Haystack Ski Area reported a ski lift crash sending up to 12 injured to Putnam Memorial Hospital. Disaster Plan No 1 activated by 11:30 a.m. and Plan No 2 partially activated as staff expanded. The first arrival was a nine year old girl with internal injuries treated with life saving care. several other patients followed, with transfers to Brattleboro Memorial and rescue squads aiding. By 12:30 p.m. six patients were treated and discharged or admitted. On March 14 staff reviewed the response and deemed it controlled and excellent.
In a joint effort, the Greater Bennington Chamber of Commerce and the Bennington school district announce a poster contest for students in Bennington Pownal Shaftsbury Woodford North Bennington and Arlington in grades 1 through 6. Winners receive free air show admissions and a GBCC certificate, with the grand prize a scenic airplane ride from Bennington Aviation. all posters will be displayed in GBCC offices and local merchants' windows.
Pat Ryan, executive at Evans News, began in 1947 and became partner in 1954 with Phil Hall. Gary Forrest joined later. Jene DeVito, Pat’s sister, has worked since 1951, and George Krawczyk since 1967. Evans News moved after 1961 fire. the firm notes long-tenured staff and a veteran, locally rooted leadership.
An informational meeting for parents and pre school screening for children in the Bennington School District will be held Tuesday April 25 at 7 30 p m in Catamount Elementary School. Children must be five years old on or before Dec 31 1977 to be eligible. If parents have not yet made an appointment they should call 442 3030 between 9 a m and 3 p m as soon as possible.
Monday offers juice and hamburg on a roll with catsup relish hot buttered vegetables cake and milk. Tuesday features hot beef on biscuit with gravy mashed potato hot buttered vegetables fruit and milk. Wednesday lists juice grinder French fries fruit. Thursday serves oven fried chicken mashed potatoes cranberry sauce hot buttered green peas roll buttered fruit and milk. Friday includes juice fish stick on roll tartar sauce celery carrot sticks cookie and milk.
