Missing in River Search Continues in Hartford Area
Hartford area police reported no success in locating three missing people after canoe capsizes in the White River and Ottaquechee River. Greg Sorensen and Judy McElfish, both 28 from West Hartford, are presumed drowned. Patrick Gokey, 29, a Dartmouth graduate student, is another missing man believed to have plunged from a bridge. Four companions survived. A curtailment of the river search occurred as water levels rose, hindering efforts. In Burlington, the Vermont Health Department will recheck restaurants with poor federal sanitary ratings after protests. Inspectors will focus on the restaurants with the most demerits in October and February surveys.
