Bennington Scouts to Expand Activity in Next Two Years

Bruce K. McMahon, assistant Scout executive of the Ethan Allen Council, told Bennington Rotary members that Scouting in Bennington is set for growth. He cited three Cub Scout packs totaling about 180 youths and around 90 Boy Scouts, predicting an additional 40 Cub Scouts and increased older Scout participation within two years.

Silent auction to mark Bennington museum meeting

Bennington Museum plans its 95th annual meeting on April 28 with a silent auction of donated items to raise funds for new additions. The event features reports on 1970 and 1971 activities, displays including the Battle of Bennington flag, and bicentennial preparations ahead of August 18 1967. Members only, doors open 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. with bidding from 8:40 p.m. Cooperation and membership details are explained by director-curator Richard Carter Barret.

Funeral for Eugene J Bushee Held in Manchester

The funeral for Eugene J. Bushee 85 retired farmer and longtime Manchester resident was held Friday from Brewater Funeral Home and St. Paul’s Church with Mass of the Resurrection by Rev. Martin Clancy organist Mrs. Charles Gaudette and grandsons as bearers. Entombment followed at Factory Point Cemetery vault with burial planned later at Dellwood Cemetery in Manchester Missouri. Bushee died Monday at home. The Vermont Yankee nuclear plant faces rising costs with coal expenses up to 1.5 million monthly and overall project costs near 200 million as hearings continue before full operation rights are granted.
