Nixon Announces Another Pullout in Vietnam
President Nixon said the United States will withdraw 150000 more troops from Vietnam in the next year, reducing total U.S. forces there to about 284000 by May 1971. He framed the move as progress toward a just peace and warned of strong measures if Communist activity increases. The plan follows prior withdrawals bringing current levels to 343000 from 549000.
