Woodford Grass Fires Cause Little Damage

Two grass and brush fires in Woodford caused minor damage. A garage at Mrs. Alice L. Fox’s Woodford Road home was scorched, aided by Robert A. Barber who spotted the blaze. Neighbors and local volunteers fought the flames, with water drawn from hydrants and the Hoosic River, while officials considered wiring as a possible cause. Six boys and men helped in one Woodford spot, and rural fire crews aided a second fire near Douglas Hill. Departments from Bennington, Bennington Rural, and North Bennington assisted at multiple sites.
