Goalby Wins Masters After De Vicenzo Scoring Error

Bob Goalby captured the 1968 Masters at Augusta after Roberto de Vicenzo signed an erroneous scorecard that cost him a playoff. Goalby posted a 66 in the final round to finish 12 under. de Vicenzo finished 278, misled by playing partner Tommy Aaron's marked 4 on the 17th hole instead of 3. The Masters committee upheld the result, with Nicklaus noting the rule. de Vicenzo lamented missing a long-cherished victory as Goalby collected the coat and prize money.
