Recovery of H bomb seen as fluke by lead diver
UPI reports Navy Lt Cmdr J Brad Mooney, coordinator of deep diving gear, says the Palomares H bomb recovery was largely a fluke. The two man Alvin sub located the device off Spain after a fisherman tip, enabling an 80 day, 250 contact sonar search and a 90 minute lift from 2500 feet with no radiation found.
