Albany Novelty Union Rejects Pay Cut in Card Plant
Members of Local 806 of the United Paper Makers and Paperworkers rejected a 10 percent wage cut at the Albany Novelty Division. An 88 to 2 strike vote showed strong backing for the bargaining committee. Management proposed the cut after a three year contract expired March 31. U S Marines began unloading heavy guns at Da Nang including eight inch howitzers the largest artillery pieces yet brought to South Vietnam.
